Pickup and delivery
Understand buyer checkout
Know what buyers see from cart to confirmation, including fulfillment choice, fees, payment, tracking, and chat.
The checkout path
Buyers browse your storefront, add available listings to the cart, choose pickup or delivery when it is supported, enter contact details, add notes, and pay securely. They can do this from the browser without creating a VibeKitchen account.
Before an order is placed, checkout checks stock, capacity, fulfillment support, delivery area, and payment readiness.
- Delivery orders include any configured delivery fee.
- When you have your buyer cover the 5% + $0.50 service fee, it appears as one line at checkout. When you absorb it, the buyer’s total is exactly your menu price and no fee line shows.
- Customer tax is calculated from the current product, fulfillment, seller-location, and order-location facts. Checkout shows the customer tax amount and who handles it, including an explicit $0.00 result when the saved calculation is zero.
- Confirmation includes tracking and chat access when those links are available.
When payment is not finished
A buyer can start checkout and then leave before payment is approved. VibeKitchen holds the order briefly while payment finishes. If it never does, the order expires, the reserved stock or capacity is released, and the buyer will need to check out again.
What to check when buyers report checkout trouble
Most checkout blockers come from availability, fulfillment, delivery address confirmation, or payment readiness.
- 1Check that the listing still has stock or capacity.
- 2Confirm the listing supports the buyer choice: pickup, delivery, or both.
- 3For delivery, check whether the address can be confirmed inside your saved radius.
- 4Confirm the payment account is active before expecting real checkout to work.
- 5If checkout says the price, fee, or tax changed, review the updated total and place the order again. Payment has not started for that attempt.
